Successful participation and presentation at exhibition in Beira, Mozambique

The exhibition series ‘Intermodal Africa’ organized by Transport Events is always a good possibility for ShibataFenderTeam to meet long-standing clients and new potential customers.

This year’s exhibition, which took place in Beira, Mozambique, was very well attended and hosted by Cornelder de Mozambique, the terminal operator for the Container and General Cargo Terminals in the Port of Beira. Beira as a port is important to Mozambique’s hinterland which is Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia for container and bulk handling.  Also some of the commodities from within Mozambique are exported via Beira.

Our booth was highly frequented by delegates and exhibitors from all areas of the maritime industry, especially port authorities and terminal operators, which is of great value to us.

We actively used the 2-day exhibition to inform about our world class customized fender solutions and we also experienced many participants visiting our booth with a specific objective. This confirms our very good standing in the fender market and as well our intensive public relation and successful marketing activities of the last years. Extensive conversations about port developments and our recent and upcoming installations at Berth 1 TCM and Mozal Berth in Matola, Mozambique, provided to be very valuable for us.

The accompanying conference program focused on economic growth for the East African region. Our contribution to the much diversified program addressed a topic which is often overlooked but of major importance for the successful and long-term operations of a port: “Maintenance of fender systems – How to prevent failures / damages”.

When fender systems lack a certain amount of maintenance and care, the risk of failure increases every day. Failures on fenders followed by cost and time intensive replacement works could be prevented at many steps of the design and production process, like for example: proper manufacturing procedures with regards to paint protection, choice of material to improve wear and corrosion resistance, order of spare parts or comprehensive maintenance regime and maintenance plan for every fender system.

Holding the presentation gave us extra exposure and focus on our company which created additional interest about the many services ShibataFenderTeam offers as a project partner: experienced support at an early project stage, a long proven track record in the marine construction industry, and assistance throughout the service life of the fender system.

We would like to thank Transport Events for the reliable execution of the exhibition, Cornelder de Mozambique for their hospitality and the delegates and visitors for the valued networking possibilities.
