New ferry terminal in Auckland equipped with SFT Donut Fenders

The America’s cup is the oldest sailing race in the world and an important event for New Zealand. Ahead of the 36^th America’s Cup in March 2021, the SeaLink ferry terminal was relocated as part of developing Auckland’s city center. The project allowed the development of a better infrastructure to support teams and yachts.

ShibataFenderTeam supplied 14 pcs of Donut Fender (12 x OD 6.6' FL 11'and 2 x OD 9' FL 5.5') to the new Ferry Terminal which were manufactured and delivered within 7 months from date of order. There were low reaction force restrictions on the pre-installed mono-piles, therefore Donut Fenders were chosen to provide a soft load deflection curve, to function under all tidal variations, and to provide a system that was easy to install. SFT Donut Fenders are generally maintenance free and the installation costs are low.
