Very first installations by new SFT Spanish office

Our new office in Spain is not even a year old and we already celebrate two successfully completed installations this year – Cylindrical Fenders for the Port of Málaga and Port of Gijón. The Port Authorities of both harbors relied on us and were satisfied with our high quality products and especially with our ongoing design and engineering support for their fender equipment.

The order to deliver 11 Cylindrical Fenders for the Port of Málaga, the very first order for the Spanish office, included the installation of the fenders on site. It was necessary to replace the old fenders from Quay “Muelle 2” which is used by cruise ships. The cruise business is very important for the Port of Malaga as new facilities, terminals and annexed berths showed. The port is the fifth largest cruise port in Spain, handling about 300 stopovers in 2017.

The expected arrival of cruise ships that had to dock at the quay, limited the time window to install the fenders tremendously. Our operators performed the installation in two days and in record time, so that the planned cruise arrivals were not affected at all. The installation was supervised by the SFT Sales Engineer responsible for the Spanish market, to ensure a smooth and successful operation.

The Port of Málaga has been very satisfied with our work and the performance of the fender installation.

The other order for the Spanish office, Cylindrical Fenders for the Port of Gijón, included fenders and accessories to replace their stock. The steel bars for the fenders were produced in our factory in Rechlin (Germany) and delivered in advance with a delivery time of just 6 weeks.


The successful start of our Spanish office confirms our strong position in the Spanish market and leaves us with a fantastic outlook into future operations.
