SFT supplied steel quay furniture for Offshore Terminal in Rotterdam, Netherlands
When it comes to sustainability and innovation, the Port of Rotterdam is a true pioneer. Aiming to be not only the largest, but also the most modern port in Europe, you'll find the most advanced technologies in Rotterdam. To respond to the fast-growing offshore wind industry, the Port of Rotterdam has built a new terminal with a total area of 42 hectares, including a 500-meter deep-water quay, a quay wall for inland shipping and two additional berths. The project is part of the larger "Maasvlakte II" construction project, which is an example of innovative and sustainable port development in Rotterdam. The site offers ideal conditions for testing offshore wind turbines.
ShibataFenderTeam supplied all cast steel quay furniture components for this project. The delivery for the new berth included 49 sets of cast steel pile saddles, 12 sets of Tricorn bollards with a capacity of 200 tons, 24 pieces of recessed bollards with a capacity of 35 tons, as well as 9 sets of access ladders and a 528 m of steel cope edge protection. The cast steel bollard saddles had to conform to very strict manufacturing tolerances and were all third party tested for material properties and tolerance range.
SFT is pleased to be a continuous part of the port development in Rotterdam, especially for the innovation project 'Maasvlakte II'. (#0054)
